An MR Angiogram (MRA) of the head allows us to visualize the blood vessels in your head. This is particularly helpful if your family has a history of aneurysms, or other conditions that affect the blood vessels, such as arteriovenous malformations. For this procedure you will have a full head scan and, in addition, have a specialized type of image that is acquired during the intravenous injection of an MRI contrast agent (dye). We may require you to have a blood test before this procedure. The type of contrast agent we use has been validated to be one of the safest types available. The entire MRI exam will take approximately 30 minutes.
In some circumstances we may be able to acquire enough information about your blood vessels without administering the contrast agent. In these cases, we would deduct $300 from the fee.
