MRI of the Adrenal Glands $1,025

Most MRI exams of the adrenal glands do not require contrast, however there are some indications where contrast would be beneficial. In these cases, an additional $300 will be charged.

The adrenal glands are small organs sitting just above the kidneys that produce certain hormones. MRI is one of the most sensitive and specific methods of looking at the adrenal glands. MRI of the adrenal glands will allow visualization of many conditions, including cancer, cystic lesions, benign masses or other disease processes. MRI has the benefit over other imaging modalities of often being able to determine if a tumor of the adrenal glands is benign or cancerous by its appearance on specialized images, thus avoiding the need for a biposy.

To fully assess these conditions, we may need to add a specialized type of image that is acquired after the intravenous injection of an MRI contrast agent (dye). We may require you to have a blood test before this procedure. The type of contrast agent we use has been validated to be one of the safest types available. The entire MRI exam will take approximately 30 - 45 minutes, but this may vary depending on the specific information your doctor requires.
